    DESCRIPTION:
    Three Front-wheel-drive Subaru G

    s. With one common front, which simplifies parts and service for over 500 Subaru dealers and the people who buy the Subaru from them.
    When a mechanic learns to service one Subaru G front, he knows how to service them all.
    When a dealer stocks parts for one Subaru G front, he basically stocks for all.
    Right away, the whole business is simplified.
    Not that we expect you to need a lot of parts and service. In fact, for some people, the performance has been phenomenal.
    Take Motor Trend. Obviously we can’t guarantee this is what you’ll find, but here’s what they found: "our judgment is that, other than replacing parts that go through normal wear, you won't need any!"
    Now, look under the hood of our 2-door, our 4-door, our 4-door wagon with a hatch & tailgate.
    There's our front-wheel drive (1). That’s the Kind of stability and control no rear-wheel drive can give. It also means no hump in the floor; the gas tank in a more protected position; a trunk (2) big enough to hold 48 soccer balls; a wagon that holds more (3) because it’s bigger inside.

    is less of a drag. We got rid of plumbing that fed on our engine and sapped power. And, yes, we
    still run on regular.
    Yes, we still get 25-30
    mpg at least.
    There’s our rack-and-pinion (6) (as in racing cars) linked up to center-pivot steering (7) (the pivot's right in the wheel) which makes it even more responsive. "Superb steering," says Motor Trend, "precise and light."
    And Road Test says our cooling system's almost as unique as the engine, starting with two radiators (8), not one.
    And with our front brakes inboard (9) out of the wheels, which lightens the wheels, combined with 4-wheel-i
    ndependent suspension (10) (know how rare that is?), the ride’s uncommonly smooth.
    Unique, again, is our monocoque body (11): the aircraft principle of strength-without-weight; the welded shell with no bolts, nothing to rattle; small on the outside, big on the inside.
    Imagine, this uncommon car at an ordinary economy car price!
    At 70 mph it doesn't even breathe hard uphill.
