The oil colors of the
SONNET
series represent thick ground fine mixtures of highly-qualified pigments and binding agents produced on the basis of special processed oil. The natural resins- dammar and mastic- are added into compounds of the binding agents.
Great
brightness
and
purity of colors
. These oil paints are characterized by a
perfect balance of primer and finished colors
.
Fine-grained, dough artist’s colors of
SONNET
series are notable for their
excellent lightfastness
. They do not change their original colors after drying, so that they can be (and have widely been!) used in restoration works.
Kolinsky, bristle, as well as synthetic brushes can be applied for work. Each tube has opaqueness, lightfastness (*,**,***), and color (international code of the pigment used) indexes.
Please see photos for more details since they are an essential part of the description.

The Tradition of Quality at “Nevskaya Palitra” Plant
In 1900, a technologist from England Julius Freedlander was invited to Saint-Petersburg by the Imperial Philanthropic Society to assist in establishing an oil paint factory. This is how the history of “Nevskaya Palitra” began. The enterprise had been functioning very successfully for several decades, and in 1934, it became Leningrad Artists’ Paints Plant on the initiative of the Tretyakov Gallery’s administration. The best specialists in the field of the painting techniques and production were involved in work to develop original compounds. Among them was Professor of Painting D. I. Kiplik, director of the All-Russian Academy of Arts U. Brodsky, as well as many organizations such as the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I. Repin and the Scientific Research Restoration Institute.
As a result of many years spent on the plant development, a unique industrial complex was built. Now it is St.Petersburg Artists’ Paints Plant “Nevskaya Palitra.” The plant produces more than 600 items of painting materials: artists’ oil, watercolor, gouache, tempera and acrylic paints, dry pigments, as well as varnishes, oils, and paint thinners. The highest level of the production quality is supported by tight control of all production stages.
The products of the enterprise have been used for the most delicate projects, including restoration of the precious pieces of art and architectural landmarks, such as
St. Basil Cathedral
,
Grand Kremlin Palace,
Cathedral of Christ the Savior
, artwork from the collections of the
State Hermitage
, the
State Tretyakov Gallery
, and old Russian icons.
