ALTEC 165 and 29A Microphone System with Altec small attachment stand. Professionally Maintained Free Shipping.
In about 1948 my dad (now deceased) purchased this microphone system (along with a second unit) referred to as an M20 Altec unit by Western Electric when it was introduced. This set does NOT have its power supply included (it needs to be acquired). The power supply was working but after his passing I forgot to procure it.
This is a one owner set which was carefully maintained by my father who was one of the leading sound engineers for over 50 years and worked with the Altec engineers and he knew this microphone intimately, and it functioned fine. Ultimately in later years (1980’s) he put these aside for his professional recordings and replaced them with Schoeps microphone systems and worked with the Schoeps engineers.
Any professional audio engineer or sophisticated audiophile knows what these Altec units are. They are rarely if ever offered on the market. We are offering this item now to assess the level of interest in these systems. I have it’s fully functioning sister 165/M29A also possibly available, along with a similar pair of Altec M175 units with M21 microphones which may be offered later. Yes they all have been maintained and functioned properly but need their corresponding power supply units.
We are retired now and are releasing my dad’s personal high end equipment, hoping it all is dispersed to sophisticated audiophiles who will enjoy it personally.
