    UNFINISHED FIRCONE
    VASE
    :
THE TOP OF THE VASE HAS BEEN CUT BUT NOT FINISHED ON THE WAVY PATTERN IT US USED TO BE CUT.
You can only get one such as this, once in a lifetime.
This is a great piece that will make your collection get attentions on any event.
    I had the other regular
    Fircone
    vase which were sold on
    Ebay
some years ago for over US00,00, but this one is the only one I have seen, as it is unfinished by the glassworkers. The top of the vase has not been polished, nor cut in the wave pattern.
    Description :
This is a rare piece of Carnival glass on a bright red-orange color.
    This piece were
made in Brazil by a small glass company on the center part of Brazil. This small company made glassware to the rich which were the only ones able to afford those pieces at that time.
    Probably made during the 40s.

To those of you who are not familiar with the
    Fircone
history please take your time to look on the web for the great website of
    Glen
    and Stephen
    Thistlewood's
Carnival Glass Website. The info below is from their deep research.
"A few years ago, a fabulous, richly
    iridised
    , blow-
    moulded
vase was reported that hadn't been seen before. Found at an auction in Philadelphia, its pattern, in deep relief, was of plump pine cones and it was aptly given the name "
    Fircone
    " by the owner, Alphonse
    Tvaryanas
. A second example (like the first one, also found in the USA) was reported and for a number of years those two examples were the only ones the Carnival world was aware of. Then, recently, quite out of the blue, a small number have been reported in Brazil. Where? Yes, Brazil. At first we were puzzled by this, but our studies, with the help of fellow researcher Marcus Newhall, have produced a very interesting story that we think will engage the interest of collectors everywhere."
"As we know, the base of one example of the
    Fircone
    vase has the
    moulded
lettering FRANCE and COTY. It is our belief that the vase was made - possibly during the early 1930s - at La
    Chapelle
    -Saint-
    Mesmin
, near Orleans in France, owned at the time by the famous
    perfumier
, Francois Coty. Let's look at the history of the factory first and then we can see how the links with Saint
    Gobain
    and Brazil all fit together.
    In 1930, the "
    Societe
    des
    Parfums
, Coty", acquired the glass-works of La
    Chapelle
, so as to produce their flasks and jars - they then formed the "
    Societe
    des
    Verreries
    de La
    Chapelle
    -Saint-
    Mesmin
". Three furnaces were in operation at the semi-automatic plant, and in 1932 a production hall was constructed and a year later, a gas factory. But skilled workers proved difficult to find, and some problems in manufacture as well as the death of Francois Coty in 1934, saw the factory going into liquidation in 1934, when it was then purchased by Saint-Gobain.
