Features interviews with company officials dating to the 1940s
This book covers the Hartland horse-and-rider sets, and standing gunfighters
made by the FOUR different Hartland companies in the five decades after
World War II. They were precision-painted and show finely molded details. The
Hartland sculptors created excellent likenesses of the actors and historical
    characters.
Hartland stands alone in the quality and quantity of its plastic horse-and-rider
sets. The over six dozen sets were made in four scales, and most had at least
five pieces per set. A total of about 150 horses, mostly 8" or taller -- were used
with the riders. Many riders transitioned among two or more horses during the
    1950s-1960s.  It's a complex body of work.
This book will help you match the correct horses, riders, saddles, hats, etc.
Reading about the TV shows and actors will take you back to the time when
westerns dominated TV. The book includes interviews with Hartland officials,
whom the author began locating in 1980, and historic photos in addition to
the 500+ color photos. Hartland Horsemen includes original prices, value
ranges, and scarcity ratings that never become outdated.
Most rider sets and extra horses with reins were released in the 1950s and
1960s, but this also book includes the 1970s, '80s, and '90s re-releases, and
the "horses with reins" by Paola Groeber's Hartland company.
(Note: the 1950s-1990s "regular" Hartland horses -- the ones without reins
or riders, from the 1950s through 1990s -- are in a separate book, Hartland
Horses and Dogs, which also includes the detailed Hartland history. The third
Hartland book, Hartland Horses: New Model Horses Since 2000, is mostly on
"regular" horses since few western items were issued after 2000.)
