Indian Yellow (Hue) - Handmade Oil Paint - 40ml

Description

Indian Yellow is rumored to have been made from the concentrated urine from cows fed on a strict diet of mango leaves, but there is debate to the authenticity to this claim. Some others believe that Indian Yellow likely comes from a vegetable source similar to Gamboge. The name comes from the fact that the color was used prominently by Indian artists and the pigment was exported heavily out of India into Europe. This color was discontinued in the late 19th century. My hue is based off of vintage genuine Indian Yellow watercolor paint. A beautiful golden hue with a beautiful range of color depending on opacity of use.
