Mummy Brown (Hue) - Handmade Oil Paint - 40ml

Description

This hue is a carefully constructed imitation of the 19th century oil paint color known as "Mummy Brown". Mummy Brown was a very transparent brown color made from grinding up Egyptian mummy remains and mixing it with oil for paint. This color was variable in its characteristics depending on the source but its hue sat between an burnt and a raw sienna hue. Great for flesh tones and shadows due to its dark and transparent characteristics. I have written a book on the handling properties and history of the oil paint color Mummy Brown.
Mummy Brown was a pasty, warm brown color of a transparent nature.
