It has a roller-furling jib that is older but serviceable and a newer full battened mainsail in fine condition. The boat sleeps up to five adults. There is a new Bimini, a GPS, depth sounder, compass, VHF, three batteries and all the basics - just waiting for your personal gear to go sailing. I had a diver scrape the bottom in June and the diesel fired right up after a layover due to the pandemic.One of the very few problems with this design is the need to reinforce the inboard chain-plates that were originally attached to the half inch thick bulkhead. The previous owner did this with a vengeance, using two ¾” reinforcements on each, so these are about twice as strong as need-be.I have been sailing for over 50 years and have sailed/owned all manner of boats large and small. Every boat is a compromise and I was concerned that downsizing from a 34 foot O’Day to a 27ft would be difficult. I can honestly say that this boat with its inboard diesel engine, long waterline, higher freeboard and shallow wing heel is a delight to sail. I bought her in 2018 as a comfortable and simple boat for my wife and I to continue cruising on the Chesapeake Bay. It is indeed a great “big little boat”. Then, of course Covid came and all the marinas closed down, my wife’s health deteriorated and I had my 73rd birthday so I have decided, reluctantly, to sell Ama to someone who can continue to enjoy her.Please study the pictures, do your homework, see what these boats are selling for and bid accordingly.
