Rare Schaeffer Oil Company Employee Belt Buckle, Gas & Oil Advertising Belt Buckle.   This brass belt buckle is in good vintage condition.  The little plaque on the back that had the makers name is missing, but I found one other Schaeffer Oil company buckle like this & it was made by Hard Hat Buckles of Owensboro, Kentucky.  The buckle is a Western style with green accent & brass beading around the edge, etching in the background & a front emblem of the Schaeffer Oil Co. (Schaeffer Manufacturing Company), the country's oldest lubricant manufacturer founded in 1839 in St. Louis.   It measures 3" x 2 1/4", it weighs 3.2 ounces & will accommodate a 1 3/4" or smaller belt.  I believe it's made of brass.  It's a great looking vintage Schaeffer Oil Company belt buckle that is sure to please any gas & oil collector.
