Description
An amazing set of 11 saucers only (without teacups), Spisa Ribb, produced by the renowned Swedish porcelain manufacturer, Gustavsberg, and designed by the iconic, Stig Lindberg. Originally designed in 1955, this pattern of dishware has been reissued over the years. White porcelain with a brown border, emanating with black stripes around the edge. Of the 11 saucers, 3 have a different mark, with Stig Lindberg's signature--perhaps another issue--see photos. 6 inches in diameter x 1.5 inches high, with 3-inch diameter depressions for cups in each saucer. The saucers are in excellent pre-owned vintage condition, and are quite fresh. Here's what Wikipedia says about this iconic design:
"Spisa Ribb is a tableware from Gustavsberg's porcelain factory created for the H55 exhibition in Helsingborg 1955 by Stig Lindberg. It was launched together with the fire-resistant series Terma, intended to be used together or in combination.
Spisa Ribb was manufactured until 1974, but the coffee service began to be manufactured again between 1987 and 1990. Since 2003, the tableware is made in bone china under the name Ribb.
Spisa Ribb has appeared as a motif on a Swedish postage stamp.
More about the Spisa Ribb "Fika" saucer from a Scandinavian design site:
"One of Sweden's most important post-war designer and illustrators, Stig Lindberg, (1916-1982), created whimsical ceramics and graceful tableware during a long career with the porcelain company Gustavsberg. Here the beloved Spisa Ribb print is relaunched in the "fika" saucer plate. Fika which in Swedish means to have a little snack or take a coffee is what Gustavsberg had in mind."
