Subaru continues to lead the industry trend in all-wheel drive, making its Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive standard on all passenger cars, crossovers and compact SUVs. There are four different versions of the system, depending on model and powertrain. The Subaru BRZ sports car, a 2+2 coupe, marked a return to sports car fundamentals of low weight, high-revving performance and highly agile rear-wheel drive handling.

Two STARLINK packages are available and offer one of the industry’s best values for such connected services. The STARLINK Safety Plus package includes Automatic Collision Notification, SOS Emergency Assistance, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Maintenance Notifications, Monthly Vehicle Health Report and Diagnostic Alerts. Subaru customers receive a one-year complimentary subscription with the purchase of a new vehicle.
Customers can subscribe also subscribe to the STARLINK Safety Plus & Security Plus Package, which adds Stolen Vehicle Recovery Service, Vehicle Security Alarm Notification, Remote Lock/Unlock, Remote Horn and Lights and Remote Vehicle Locator.
STARLINK uses built-in AT&T 4G LTE wireless capability and Sirius XM Connected Vehicle Services to provide a comprehensive suite of services. Driver Assist Technology available, which includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Pre-Collision Braking and Lane Departure and Sway Warning, adds a Lane Keep Assist function for 2016. With Lane Keep Assist, which is activated above 40 mph, steering assistance can help keep the vehicle in its travel lane if drift is detected. If the vehicle leaves the lane, Lane Departure Warning is triggered and audible and visual alerts are activated
Many 2016 Subaru models also feature – as standard or an option -- the new Blind Spot Detection / Rear Cross Traffic Alert system includes Lane Change Assist. A security benefit offered in many 2016 Subaru models, Welcome Lighting automatically activates cabin illumination and exterior lights as the driver approaches or departs the vehicle. Many high-line model trims also offer Keyless Access with Push-Button Start system with PIN Code Access.

2016 Legacy
Subaru introduced a new-generation Legacy sedan for 2015, featuring the roomiest cabin in the midsize segment and 36-MPG EPA estimated highway fuel economy. Legacy is the only car in its class with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Active Torque Vectoring, a combination that gives it confident grip in all weather conditions.
In addition to offering the new STARLINK connected services, the Legacy receives several other refinements for 2016. A new auto on/off mode operates the windshield wipers with the headlights. Subaru retuned the electric power-assist steering to provide an even more linear and natural feel. The exclusive Stablex suspension dampers on the Legacy Limited trim have been further refined for improved ride smoothness over rough road surfaces.
The Legacy 2.5i is powered by a 175-horsepower 2.5-liter Boxer engine with 174 lb.-ft. peak torque. It’s teamed to a standard Lineartronic
®
Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with manual mode and paddle shifters. The Active Grille Shutter helps to improve fuel economy by enhancing aerodynamics. The DOHC 3.6-liter BOXER 6-cylinder engine in the Legacy 3.6R Limited produces 256 hp and 247 lb.-ft. of peak torque and is teamed to a high-torque version of the Lineartronic CVT.
2016 Outback
The Outback was an all-new design for 2015, the roomiest, most versatile in the vehicle’s 20-year history. The combination of Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and standard Active Torque Vectoring gives Outback confident grip in all weather conditions. Standard X-Mode, Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist augment Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive to assist the driver in navigating rough roads, slippery surfaces or steep inclines. The Outback shares the Legacy’s powertrain offerings and features the new STARLINK connected services and STARLINK Multimedia systems for 2016, and also echoes other enhancements made to the Legacy.

The Forester, Subaru’s best selling model, offers new SUBARU STARLINK™ connected services for 2016. Also
new, Forester models with EyeSight

now also include Steering-Responsive Fog Lights, which use the pre-aimed fog lights to individually provide enhanced illumination in the direction of a turn.
Forester models are equipped with one of the three STARLINK Multimedia systems, depending on trim line.
Forester offers exemplary versatility and roominess, including up to 74.7 cu. ft. of maximum cargo space, which is large for the segment. Two models are offered: the 2.5i features a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder BOXER engine with 170 horsepower and 174 lb.-ft. torque. It’s teamed to a 6-speed manual transmission in the 2.5i and 2.5i Premium trims, which offer the
Lineartronic CVT as an option. The CVT is standard for the high-line Limited and Touring trims.
High-line CVT-equipped Forester models also feature standard Hill Descent Control and X-Mode, which provides extra control in certain driving conditions.
The Forester 2.0XT, offered in Premium and Touring trims, combines high performance and high fuel efficiency from its exclusive
2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged/direct injection BOXER engine. The engine produces 250 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of peak torque and is teamed as standard with the Lineartronic CVT with Subaru SI-DRIVE powertrain control, manual mode and paddle shifters.
2016 Impreza
After giving the Impreza compact line a comprehensive upgrade for 2015, Subaru keeps the momentum going by making its SUBARU STARLINK Safety and Security features available for 2016. All 2016 Impreza models are powered by a 148-hp 2.0-liter 4-cylinder BOXER engine and feature standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) is standard for the Premium and Limited trims; a 5-speed manual continues as standard in the base 2.0i and the Sport Premium trims. The 2016 Impreza achieves the highest fuel economy of any gasoline All-Wheel Drive car available in the United States. Its EPA estimated ratings of up to 28 mpg city / 37 mpg highway and 31 mpg combined for models with the CVT are comparable with front-wheel drive cars. All models (5-speed and CVT) feature Incline Start Assist, which helps prevent the vehicle from rolling back when moving away from a stop on an incline.
The Impreza’s STARLINK Multimedia systems, which were introduced for the 2015, add more capability for 2016 with the addition of new STARLINK Cloud Applications, including Calendar, Stitcher, Music Player, News and Weather. EyeSight

2016 Crosstrek

compact crossover receives freshened front styling for 2016 and drops the “XV” from its name. The 2016 Crosstrek offers new SUBARU STARLINK Safety & Security features and the Blind Spot Detection / Rear Cross Traffic Alert system, which also includes Lane Change Assist. The STARLINK Multimedia systems introduced for 2015 gain new STARLINK Cloud Applications to expand music and information sources.
The Crosstrek 2.0i models are powered by a 148-horsepower 2.0-liter BOXER engine, teamed to a 5-speed manual transmission or the available Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, high ground clearance (8.7 inches), 17-inch alloy wheels and ample room for passengers and cargo make the Subaru Crosstrek a high-capability crossover. It is also one of the most fuel-efficient all-wheel-drive crossover utility vehicles in America, delivering EPA-estimated

-mpg highway fuel economy – comparable to smaller crossovers.
Crosstrek Hybrid
Subaru’s first hybrid model also sports a more refined look for 2016, with a redesigned gloss black grille and chrome accents, new headlights and front bumper and fog light covers with chrome accent trim. The Crosstrek Hybrid also gains new interior refinements, including distinctive orange stitching for the standard model’s cloth upholstery, the Touring trim’s leather upholstery and the leather-wrapped steering wheel in both models.
The Crosstrek Hybrid combines the output of an optimized 2.0-liter 4-cylinder BOXER engine and a 13.4 hp electric motor for 160 total system horsepower. The Crosstrek Hybrid
offers all the capability and versatility of the gasoline version and is equipped with the same Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and 8.7 inches of ground clearance.
2016 WRX
Subaru introduced the new-generation WRX for 2015 featuring a new wide-body sedan design and a significantly stiffer chassis that expanded performance envelope. For 2016, Premium and Limited trims gain standard 18-inch wheels. Also for 2016, the WRX joins other Subaru models in offering the company’s EyeSight
®
system, one of the highest-rated front crash prevention systems by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS). EyeSight
®
is available for the WRX Limited with the Sport Lineartronic transmission.
With its 268-horsepower, 2.0-liter direct injection turbocharged BOXER engine, standard Symmetrical All Wheel Drive and Active Torque Vectoring, the rally-bred WRX is a performance and value benchmark among high-performance sport-compact models. The WRX comes standard with a 6-speed manual transmission. The available performance automatic transmission, the Sport Lineartronic™, offers the choice of stepped automatic shifting 8 pre-selected ratios (when in Sport Sharp mode) and also 6-speed and 8-speed manual shifting modes using steering wheel paddle switches.
The 2016 WRX base trim comes standard with a new low-profile trunk spoiler, and all trims feature new gloss black cabin trim. The STARLINK 6.2” Multimedia system is standard, upgraded for 2016 with new STARLINK Cloud Applications, and the STARLINK 7.0” Plus Navigation Multimedia system is available.
2016 WRX STI
Subaru introduced the new-generation WRX STI for 2015, featuring a new wide-body sedan design with a significantly stiffer chassis resulting in an expanded performance envelope. Offered in standard and Limited trim lines, the WRX STI is immediately recognized by its aggressive looking aerodynamic form, highlighted by the trademark large STI trunk wing. Drivers wanting a less conspicuous look can opt for a low-profile trunk spoiler that was added as a no-cost option for 2016.
Powered by a 305-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged/intercooled BOXER engine, the WRX STI brings rally-bred performance technology to the road with Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The WRX STI Limited trim gains new Blind Spot Detection / Rear Cross Traffic Alert for 2016, and both trims feature new STARLINK Multimedia systems.
The STARLINK 7.0” Multimedia Navigation system is standard for the limited and available for the base trim.
The Series.HyperBlue WRX STI, limited to 700 units for the United States, continues Subaru’s tradition of offering special versions of its performance models.
2016 BRZ
The Subaru BRZ sports car marked a return to the fundamentals of sports car design, emphasizing low vehicle weight, an ultra-low center of gravity and precision steering. The BRZ, an IIHS Top Safety Pick, is powered by Subaru’s FA-Series naturally aspirated 2.0-liter, 200-horsepower BOXER engine. Using a large proportion of high-tensile steel, with aluminum for the hood, the Subaru BRZ weighs 2,764 pounds.
For 2016, Subaru is offering the Series.HyperBlue BRZ in a limited run of 500 cars for the United States. The Series.HyperBlue BRZ grabs the eye with exclusive Hyper Blue paint, along with matching interior trim. The exterior is further distinguished by 17-inch black alloy wheels, black glossy badging and painted black finish exterior mirrors. A frameless day/night rear-view mirror and simulated carbon fiber center dash panel add a high-tech look, and the finishing touch is an illuminated engine start / stop button.
In addition, all BRZ models receive the versatile STARLINK 6.2” Multimedia system for 2016. Music plays through a standard 196-watt, 8-speaker audio system. A standard rear vision camera is also new for 2016.
