Whimsical Figgjo Flint Norway SICILIA 11.5" Serving Dish, Platter - Hand Painted

Description

Up for your consideration is a vintage Figgjo Flint (of Norway) large serving dish or platter in the Sicilia pattern. The platter is white with a cheerful green and orange design consisting of a couple in the center holding an abundant basket of fruit. The woman is wearing a hat decorated with fruit and a dress with a swirl design at the hem. The man has checkered pants, shirt, and hat. Surrounding the couple, there are garlands with fruit.
To the right of the man, there is a bower with grapes. Below the couple, there are some pears. The design is utterly charming. The sloping sides of the serving dish (protecting against spillage) are painted a soft green color, making a nice contrast to the darker green and orange of the central decoration.
The serving dish measures 11 1/2 inches long by 11 1/2 inches wide, and weighs 2 pounds, 5 7/8 ounces.
The underside is marked with what looks like a half apple. Inside this image, it reads Sicilia - made in F / F (for Figgjo Flint) norway. Below, it reads:
handpainted
- silkscreen. There is a faint second mark that looks like a mark for Figgjo Flint (see the next to last photo).
The platter is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or crazing. There are some small areas of paint loss toward the bottom end of the decoration amongst the leaves, but this is very hard to notice (see the last photo).
